Globe & Mail Graphics
illustration, data visualization
2011 to 2014
The following are some explanatory graphics from my time at The Globe and Mail, the national newspaper of Canada. You can find additional graphics on my flickr.

The Deciding Votes
I worked with editors and writers to determine that undecided voters were an important narrative in the 2012 U.S. election. We created five different voter personas based on our data and research. I delegated duties to team members, designed the layout & visualized the data.

All About Fracking
What experts say we don’t know: leaks from wells, the effects of natural gas leaking into groundwater and whether there are health risks associated with shale gas development.

Health, Science & Tech
My areas of expertise for making graphics were science, tech and health. I enjoy learning about heady topics to make them more accessible to the public.

Mobile Graphics
I was chosen as the graphics director of The Globe’s mobile-first design initiative. Throughout the day, we checked performance metrics for each mobile graphic to see what performed best on our website, and resonated with our users.
